We have four female Maremma pups still looking for homes. All the pups are ready to go and they now have an average weight of 9 kgs. Here is an update on who is available:
Gold (also known as Pink Dot) First born and heaviest at 690 grams. She has a cute curl in her tail that matches the one Oddie from our last litter had. She will be big and at this stage looks reasonably placid. I call her "Gold the Great"
Red (also known as Red Dot) - who now weighs in at 5.8 kgs and is eating well and interacting well with Rene and the other puppies. She appears to be higher Talker"
Orange (also known as Orange Dot) was third born and is one of our smaller pups at 4.5 kgs. I call her "Orange the Dreamer"
and that leaves Pink who is thriving at a little 4.6 kgs. This little girl is known as "Pink the Princess". She has a couple of pink dots on her nose that are cute.
Available 27th December 2017 5 female Maremma Pups - no papers. Vet checked, fully vaccinated and wormed as well as Microchipped.
The cost is $800 per pup. If you live interstate we can arrange for your new pup to fly Qantas – a quote can be arranged and I will personally deliver your pup to the Airport for uplift. The pup will need a Vet clearance certificate to fly – this can be arranged at the six week vet check for no charge.
The Maremma is a breed of working dog that act as Guardians for other animals and livestock. They need lots of room and can be difficult to contain, but are an intelligent and trainable dog. They have wonderful personalities and very strong instincts to follow their breed. They are best suited to acreage where they have a job to do. Having said that, some dogs will do well in a normal suburban environment provided certain rules are followed.
Unfortunately, quite a few Maremmas find their way to rescue centres due to their barking, hence the rules I mentioned above.
Please consider your decision to purchase one of these pups with great care, and ensure you use your best common sense. We don’t want to see any of them back due to unsuitable environments where they can get into trouble, especially with neighbors. The onus is on you to ensure you can provide them a suitable home.
These pups are not for breeding. Juvenile De-sexing can be arranged prior to the pup leaving here, and as we work with a specialist Breeding Vet Clinic, this can be done safely and at a reasonable price. Having said this, for a large breed of dog like the Maremma, early desexing can impact on their growth cycle and cause problems in later life. We can also offer Tubal Ligation for the females and vasectomy for the males as an option, which have less side effects and allows for full de-sexing once your pup is fully grown. Please speak to me about this if you are considering going down this path.
This is the same breed as the dog in Oddball, the movie about how this breed saved a colony of penguins on a Victorian Island near Warrnambool. Well worth a watch.
